1. Kurhaus & Kurpark
If you're visiting Wiesbaden, be sure to check out the famous Kurhaus Wiesbaden. This 20th-century classicist building is one of the most magnificent festival halls in Germany, with its sumptuous halls and salons being used for congresses, galas, and various other events. Public tours are available for anyone who would like to see the Kurhaus from the inside. You can also admire the foyer with its huge glass dome, marble statues and paintings without a guided tour. After visiting the Kurhaus, we recommend taking a stroll through the adjacent spa gardens. This beautifully designed English landscape garden is ideal for strolling, picnicking and relaxing. For a different perspective, you can hire a rowing or pedal boat and take a leisurely trip across the pond. For snacks, coffee breaks or evening drinks, the Lounge 1907, which is part of Benners Bistronomie in the Kurhaus, is open in the summer months.
2. Historic old town
Take a stroll through the picturesque old town of Wiesbaden and admire the lovingly restored half-timbered houses dating back to the 18^(th) and 19^(th) centuries, as well as the narrow alleys, small cafés and boutiques. The old town's central point is the Marktkirche, whose striking towers can be seen from afar, and which is open to visitors. Other highlights to discover on a short walk include the cuckoo clock, the Kurhaus and the remains of the Heidemauer, considered to be Wiesbaden's oldest building.
3. Neroberg
No holiday in Wiesbaden would be complete without a trip to the Neroberg. Towering 245 metres above the city, Wiesbaden's local mountain offers what is probably the most beautiful view of Hesse's capital. You can explore the Neroberg on foot or take the famous Nerobergbahn railway, which will take you to the summit in just three and a half minutes. This railway is one of the city's most popular attractions. Powered by water, it is part of Germany's technical heritage. While you're there, you can also visit the impressive Neroberg Temple or the Russian Church or simply relax in the Opelbad open-air swimming pool and enjoy the fantastic view of the city.
4. Biebrich Castle
Visit Biebrich Palace. It is one of the most impressive and beautiful palaces on the Rhine. Originally planned as a garden house and later used as a residential palace by Prince Georg of Nassau-Idstein, it now enchants visitors from all over the world and also houses the local registry office. Take a stroll through the well-tended gardens and enjoy the view of the Rhine. You can visit the palace as part of a guided tour – it's well worth it! A particular highlight of this attraction in Wiesbaden is the palace's own cinema, ‘Filme im Schloss’, which regularly shows great films in their original language.
5. Museum Wiesbaden
The Museum Wiesbaden is the ideal place for anyone interested in art and nature. Here, you can admire works of art from eight centuries, as well as almost 5,000 animal specimens, plants, and fossils. The museum's natural history department is particularly popular, with over a million natural exhibits to marvel at. Alongside the impressive permanent exhibitions, there are regularly changing special exhibitions on nature or art, making the museum a cultural highlight in the Wiesbaden region.
